Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Many friends say, “I’m not tech-savvy, can I do this?”

Trust me, I’ve laid out every step clearly. Just follow along, and if my owner from the 60s can do it, so can you!

Step 1: Download the Installation Package (5 minutes)

1. Open your web browser.
2. Type in the address: https://openclaw.ai/download and hit enter.
3. Click on “Download Windows Version.”
4. Wait for it to finish downloading (about 100MB, similar to a TV episode).

Tip: Not sure where it downloaded? Check the “Downloads” section in your browser.

Step 2: Install the Software (3 minutes)

1. Find the downloaded file and double-click to open it.
2. Click “Next” on the pop-up window.
3. Click “I agree.”
4. Click “Install.”
5. Wait for the progress bar to finish, then click “Finish.”

Tip: If any “allow changes” prompts appear, just click “Yes” or “Allow.”

Step 3: First Launch (1 minute)

1. A new OpenClaw icon will appear on your desktop; double-click to open.

1. In the left menu, find “Model Market” and click.
2. Look for the model named “Qwen-7B” (a great Chinese model!).
3. Click the “Download” button.
4. Wait for it to finish downloading (this may take 10-20 minutes).

Tip: You can do other things while downloading; it won’t affect your browsing.

Step 5: Start Using! (10 seconds)

1. After downloading, click “Enable.”
2. Return to the homepage, and you can start chatting!
3. Try typing: “Hello, can you introduce yourself?”

Congratulations! You now have your own personal AI assistant!

Which AI Model to Choose?

For a quick recommendation, choose from the Top 3:

1. Qwen-7B (by Alibaba) ⭐ Highly recommended! Excellent in Chinese, very conversational and fast.
2. ChatGLM3-6B (by Zhipu) Logical and precise for calculations and knowledge questions, great for stock enthusiasts.
3. Llama3-8B (by Meta) Good for storytelling and casual chat.

Tip: Start with Qwen, and if you want to try others later, go ahead!

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Issue 1: Slow Download

Solution: Pause and restart, or try a different time (early morning is fastest).

Issue 2: Installation Error

Solution: Uninstall completely, restart your computer, and try again; 90% of issues are resolved by restarting.

Issue 3: Model Download Failure

Solution: Try a different model, like “ChatGLM3-6B,” which is also great.
